Re: Why is the .22 WMR is more versatile than the .17 HMR?

Where is this guy located that he can shoot billy goats, fallow deer, and dangerous reptiles? And, find a selection of various weight bullets In 22Mag in his local ammunition store?

Just A bit of academic theory here and little field experience, I think.

In theory all things stated are correct. In practice, not always.

I have shot a number of badgers with the HMR and at least one coyote. All were ear hole, eye hole or nostril shots. The superb accuracy of the HMR made those shots simple.

I only ever had one Mag, A Rifle of some sort. I didn't have it very long. Ammo was hard to find and it wasn't very accurate. Was it a Remington? Don't recall.

I have several of each..all in CZ or Anshutz..oh, and one in Ruger... the 17HMR is fast and deadly..but I prefer the 22 Mag.. out to 200 -250--it works awesome on p-dogs..have shot a lot of coyotes with mine..standing or running..always hammers them... seems to have more terminal energy on game... AND. ..I have enough ammo to last me 2 lifetimes.. so..ammo is not an issue for either.. actually just bought several thousand rounds of each this past summer..
