Re: Classic calibres and chamberings for sporting rifles

In 1904, Rigby also developed a .350 Rigby Magnum version of the Mauser, firing a 225-grain bullet at 2,580 fps as a medium game rifle. This was hugely successful with African hunters, drawing fulsome praise from John Taylor, who considered it ‘perfect’, until the 1950s, only being overtaken by the Holland & Holland .375 Magnum as an ‘all-rounder’.

I like the idea of a .350 Rigby but a 225 gr projectile is light for calibre. A 250 or 275gr would be suitable. What velocity would be achieved?

The .318 Westley Richards with 180 and 250 gr projectiles. And the .333 Jeffery, with projectiles ufrom 250 yes and up to 300 yes are much preferable. A reason for their greater success. IMO.
