Look, as a deer rifle, stocking and quick shooting in thick brush its a great gun and cartridge. The later models of the 1895 Marlin guide gun are super. I love mine. But as an African cartridge its just not enough, so keep it with what it was designed for and you'll be fine. It's also very light and fun to carry.
