The results were interesting. I thought the .500 would fare better.
My "old" Winchester m94 Trapper 16" in .45 Colt, made 1,740fps with 320gr.FN and 340gr.FN Cast after I switched to W630 powder. With W295, it made 1,584fps with a cast 300gr.HP and accounted for 2 elk, for me.
1,584fps as the BP original load for the .45/90 Winchester from an 86 - with 300gr. bullet.
No flies on any of those loads.
I'm impressed you wacked 2 elk using the rifle in 45 Colt.. Sneaking through the woods??
