From the Journal of Mountain Hunting article, there doesn't appear to be any true need for a hunter to own a 300 PRC. The article states that the 300 PRC was "designed for distances exceeding 1200 yards" and then states that "when shots at mountain game exceed 400 yards, the percentage of hits falls below 25%."

However, all that being said, if I were to buy a 30 maginum, I would consider a 300 PRC, just because it seems like a neat cartridge.




Wow..that is quite an interesting statistic..25% over 400 yards..people need to shoot more I guess..

Not sure I have ever seen my wife miss under 500..also why I am such a good husband..
