They do seem to have increased the costs of these 'black guns' over the cost of wooden stocked guns of the same chamberings.
You pretty much hit it dead on there. It's all about maximizing profits, not making a better product. Cost savings are NEVER put into product improvement, strictly into improving return to shareholders.
