Cricket is not good for youth - for one important reason. Once loaded and in battery with the striker cocked, if the shooter doesn't want to take the shot they need to manually pull the striker, hold it back, depress the trigger while holding the striker's cocking piece, and gently lower the striker on a live round before they can open the bolt and clear the chamber. If the shooter opens the bolt on a live round with the striker cocked, the striker will fall on the live round as the bolt is rotated. That's a lot to ask from a beginning shooter who is a youngster small enough to fit the rifle. Fire the chambered round or go through the above process, or have a discharge while the bolt is opening. Not kid stuff. |
