While I think that a .45-70 is probably acceptable for North American game I wouldn't trust it at all for Cape buffalo or other dangerous game in Africa or Asia. Even the hot loads don't appeal to me. As far as the Baikal revised Remington double barrels are concerned I don't believe the quality will be there for a dangerous game rifle. It will be a nice deer rifle but few deer charge. The .45-70 is a great round with worlds of potential... in its place. I just don't believe that you want to cheap-skate a dangerous game hunt and a few bucks saved trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear could come back and get you. |
