Quote: How many people use a 200 gr projectile in a .308? No doubt, Daryl, you will say, you shoot them at XXXX fps velocity. Judging by your previous posts. But I rarely see or hear of people using 200 gr projectiles in a .308. Yes in a .30-06, which is one reason I think the .30-06 is usually better than a .308, being able to use 180 gr projectiles better, and also 200 and 220 gr projectiles. Even up to 250 gr projectiles, though I have never tried them myself. I think the .308 shines for hunting use due to its shorter case in semi auto, pump and lever actions. I like my .308 Browning Lever Action for brush hunting. A 180 gr projectile for game such as sambar where precise shots might not be possible. A 150 gr for pigs again for fast shooting. 150 gr for most deer as well. A 6.5mm not legal for sambar in Victoria, but a 160 gr would work probably quite well. But I think I would limit the 6.5mm with a 140 gr or even 160 gr to more open country where better aimed ahots were more likely. The .308, .30-06, 8mm to 9.3mm for brush hunting and possibly running shots. |
