Gentlemen. Thank you for your time and your reply. I really appreciate it. I will try to post a few pics from the start of this project and a few of the progress. It all started just over a year ago when I felt for something to spend cold winter nights with. I bought a couple of blanks from Turkey and after some hard thinking about what I wanted I felt brave enough to start. The blank (the one to left) was cut roughly. The outside shaping was done with rasps mostly. Im sorry to say that I didn't think too much about to take pictures during this process, something I regret today. Anyways, here are a couple of pics of the rough rasped filed and sanded stock ready for the final adjutments and details. Water was used to show the grain in the wood. The forearm was cut to what I felt was right and a piece of ebony was mounted and roughly shaped. This rifle is chambered in 30-06 "only" but to be on the safe side I have mounted steel crossbolts and covered the holes with ebony plugs. I made a grip cap in ebony too but the only picture I got of it is this one This is how the rifle looked like at that stage. Working on this made me a little curious of how it will look like so I had to stain the stock with water again to show some colors. The last progress with rhe pad you have already seen. Now I'll have to do some more minor adjustments and sanding before the first oil. The metal will be given some care as well, but that's a story I have to come back to later. Rino. |
