Way over priced but a good rifle. I'd take a Browning over the Win any day. The new M70 have a stiff bolt that catches on locking the bolt handle down. Just a slight catch. Trigger probably very close to each other out of the box. Mauser extractor is way over rated. Had as many failings with them as any other type, more so than any Rem I have used. The Mauser is a good extractor but not as good as all the hype would have you believe. My personal experience. Which would I buy, at the price difference, the Win 70. Over here that Browning will cost north of AUD3000. If I buy a Stainless X-Bolt about $1200, ceracote all the bits and pieces $650 to $750. Carbon fibre stock, I would suggest no change out of $800 so total price AUD2750. The M70 extreme weather cost a bit more than AUD1200 like $700 to $800 more so to do all that to the Win will see north of AUD3600. Just to put things in perspective for down under. A base grade M70 is AUD1600 so still at least $400 up on a base grade Browning. |
