Too much speed for this old guy. If I shot an animal 600 yards away, who'd going to go get it? That train has passed.

THAT is the beauty if this round..you can load it to anywhere from 30-06 and 300WIN mag velocities to 3300+fps..IMHO, this is one of the most versatile rounds for all around N American hunting ever developed..using the correct bullets, works well on pronghorn to elk and everything in between.

I have taken more game with this caliber than probably any other rifle/caliber I own..been with me on 5 trips to Africa -Alaska..dozens of elk, N Dakota Whitetail, etc...

Don't agree you need a muzzle break being needed..Have been shooting mine since 2000..never had a muzzle break on it..nor do I have one on my 7mmRUM, 338RUM or 375RUM....however if you are recoil sensitive, this is not the caliber for you..

I finally put a new barrel on mine last year only because i wanted a fluted barrel..been shooting dozens and dozens of rounds per year ..still was shooting under 1" groups after 17 years of shooting and hunting..truly feel for the "average hunter" the barrel would last a lifetime..not that that concerns me as I feel they always make new barrels..

If I were to hunt the world with only one rifle, this would certainly be one I would strongly consider..with 200gr A-Frames, it has flattened everything I have ever hit with it up to hippo..if it sounds like I am a huge fan, I am..

BTW, Daryl, if you make that 600 yard shot, let me know, I'll go get it..
