I have a "scout" made from a VZ Mauser with a 19" 30-06 barrel in it. It's something I threw together over 30 years ago. I shortened the military stock and did a carving on it, and I glued a cheek piece to it so the stock works well with the Burris scout scope.

So far I have fired 13 shots at 13 head of game and I have killed 13. I have not misses a shot or wounded an animal with it. With a track record like that, it's very hard to dislike the little thing, for any reason.

The only thing I intended to do (that I never got around to) is mounting a Williams peep on it with a front base and steel blade. A "scout" should have a set of good irons, and my doesn't, but so far I have not needed them. I will kick myself if I ever do however.
