Change the stock? The two Pre-64 .375's I shot (both owned by Lester H. Hawkes at the time - 1973), were perfect, just as they came from the factory. They also came with 2 1/2X Lyman Alaskan Scopes.

Les had shortened one to 22" as his guide gun in Montana (back in the 50's) and the other was an unaltered factory rifle at 25" bl. unfired until 1973. I enjoyed that, checking Less's handloads for his other M70 in it - it loved them.

A friend now has the 'factory' rifle.
