What I meant that you can see a very short part of the barrel threads showing. Since uses the square type of threads similar to the model of 1917 U.S. Enfield and the British P14. Nothing unsafe about the threads showing though. I have shot this cut down rifle (model of 1898 with a 1901 cartouche date) many times with remington 180 grain 30-40 Krag ammo. Thanks for the reply.
