I am unsure what you mean by "Short section of barrel threads showing".
But in this cast the rifle has a new 28" long barrel of my own making.

Well, not that I did the bore, .... it started out as a 30" blank, and I did all the turning and contouring.
I have been a barrel maker in the past but I find it better to buy blanks from McGowen or Green Mountain these days.
