I think a tool less takedown with a full thread would cover most of the issues people have. Mine is a .300 wby mag on a Mauser 98 and the only issue I have with it is the barrel thread isn't as good as I like - I didn't cut it - and I haven't fitted the additional .375 wby mag barrel (and it's scope) yet. They're great for travelling. A takedown on a Model 88 has a lot going for it. Perhaps .22/250 and .243, or 7mm/08, or .308 would cover most bases. Same principal - spring actuated plunger in forend engaging hole in plate on action ring plate - would work. |
