If mine I would go to a handmade claw mount, the rear base closely hand fitted to the unaltered rear bridge and soldered, the front one on a countered half banded support soldered on the barrel first step.
Indeed it would be better to choose a classic European scope and even better one with prismatic 70° rail under main tube.
