I was told many years ago when first starting my trade by my instructors "if you look after your gear your gear will look after you"...I've applied that wherever I could, obviously you certainly do to! My rifles aren't safe queens, they do get out when I have a rare opportunity & they've never let me done yet! I have an original P14 in the gun cupboard that's all but 100 years old, yes she shows some wear & tear, the stock has been refinished back with bee's wax, boiled linseed oil & turps mixture & rubbed in hard by hand! I still use it for hard hunting, it can still get good enough groups at 50m (more so my eyes & ability) & taken some big boars over the 100kg mark all anchored on the spot with one round.
Just because you're old(er), doesn't mean you're over the hill!
Keep up the good work matey, good rig to pass to the kids/grandkids - hopefully not for quite some time yet
