I'm a retired (sort of) (are you ever) (still have a farm) farmer. I had always wanted a classic Mauser in 9.3x62 ever since obtaining my first copy of John Taylor's African Rifle Cartridges. After the fall of the Iron Curtain and the subsequent importation of the CZ550 rifles, I realized this might be the only true opportunity I'd have. The CZ550 was economically achievable for a struggling farmer, and being a modern firearm it offered the best chance of having a quality Mauser system rifle that could be used to a patina without crying over the inevitable dings and scratches of everyday hard farmer usage. I haven't looked back, and neither has she. CZ550 Luxe 9.3x62mm. Kahles 3x9 rifle-scope in Warne QD mounts. Three position safety, single set trigger, open sights, dual recoil bolts. Barrel dated for the Millennium 2000. She's starting to show some wear now, but has never let me down. Either the rifle or the cartridge. Some one of my descendants is going to be lucky. Norman4 |
