So Im planning this Mosin Nagant build (maybe TWO...), and Im pondering caliber options.

FIRST Im really not opposed to 762x54r. It'll handle anything in North America (please no Brown Bear arguments), that Im likely to choose to hunt with it.

NEXT I kinda like the cheap surplus (762x54r) for some fun range time AND Soft Point ammo is reasonably easy to find.

So WHAT are OPTIONS for the Mosin? How much re-work is necessary (magazine, etc)? Any calibers that DON'T require mods?

IF I stick with 762x54r, WHAT is a reasonable barrel length-20", 22" 24"?
