Quote: THAT is exactly what got me interested in this project! NOW Im thinking I want TWO guns, one like that one above and one with a half stock with a barrel 20-22 inches , or possibly as long as 24 inches. I spoke to the folks at McGowen Barrels today about their octagonal barrels. YES its very DO-Able on a Mosin Nagant, so of course I must have it. Im not sure how an octagonal barrel will look in the Full Stock BUT its a MUST HAVE for me in the half stock! Im also undecided how thin or heavy to make the barrel. Both guns would be used for hunting AND hiking so I dont want them too heavy??? Ive looked at the available custom stocks and nothing is shouting out to me. Im still liking the idea of adding wood of horn to a military stock for a curved grip. Im also looking at scopes and mounts. While I guess there may be better options, I kinda like the post war "bridge mount and a PEM Scope for that 1950s flair. Im still open to suggestions |
