I was at our deer camp during archery season and one day at lunch mounted a scope on a 30/30 for a member when one of the numerous stray dogs around there was spotted about 70 yards away.
The owner did not have any ammo as this was archery season and he planned on sighting it in elsewhere.
However there was one green, corroded 30/30 round on the mantle that someone had picked up from the yard couple years before so I chambered it and held on the chest of the trotting dog and fired.
It actually fired and the dog yelped and ran off down a bank where we found it about 20 yards away dead.
The bullet had gone thru both testicles and cut the artery in the off side leg.
Shot the balls off a trotting dog at 70 yards with an unsighted rifle.
