I've been fixated on calibers before and just had to have a 9.3x? really weird semi rammer super duper thumper, but what I can't quite get my head around is wanting a heavy 26inch barreled bean field rifle for 'stalking". If you want a long range rifle great but to then try and cram it into a role that it does not really fill seems like pushing it to me. If it's a stalking rifle then a medium sporter would seem to make more sense. Why not a Remington Model 7 in 300 RSAUM or a Winchester Model 70 in a 300 WSM? Maybe ideally a Cooper Excalibur in 6.5x285, long range, lighter weight and more suited to the intended game. If it's an itch you need to scratch, then scratch away. I think you'll get more satisfaction from just buying it as a toy you don't really need then trying to justify it. Luxury over made up need so to speak. |
