The Ruger No.1 is the rifle that got me hooked on falling block single shots.
Of course, as a kid I always pined for a genuine Farquharson, but pre internet, they just weren't easy to find and then there was the little issue of cost of course.
My first No.1 was a .375H&H which I paid $375 for. Now I own five. 50/110, 458 Lott, 450/400, .375H&H and a 9.3X74R, and, eventhough I own two Gibbs and a Jeffery in 303 British, if I come across a reasonably priced No.1 in 303 I wouldn't hesitate in picking it up.
