If I wanted to shoot 200 gr. bullets in a 30 cal. then I would get a 300 Win mag, 300 Wby or my favorite, the 300 H&H and cook them out at near 3000 FPS...If you want a magnum, then shoot a magnum...NOTHING is gained from a short action...

If I shoot a 30-06 then I want a 180 gr. bullet at about 2700 FPS or a bit better...If I shoot a .308 (and I do) then I probably limit it to 165 gr. bullets.
