The .264 was an interesting round, but I think the 6.5/.284 is a superior round for all round use, as in target or a long range deer/goat/sheep rifle quite capable of taking elk and moose as well.

I have one (264 W mag) in a special run of Rem. years ago--just started shooting it last year..used it on elk--worked really well--shooting Accubonds..around 3150 fps..has a 26" barrel

Also have a Savage F-class in 6.5/284--scoped and ready to go--hv not shot it yet..but its a beast in weight--but would really like to do some long range stuff with it on targets...need a bit more time..

I like the .264 for its great ballistics..and the Win Mag because you are likely to be the only one in camp with one...
