Interesting that "custom" is used in defining these firearms. It seems to me that the word has lost its meaning. In my view a custom firearm begins with a concept by a client that is expressed to a maker and through a protracted process the maker and client arrive at the finished product. Simply adding features to an existing firearm or offering options in the same manner that many of the major manufacturers did before the Second World War does not constitute custom in my view. I recall many articles over the years that detail a custom firearm build process and these reflect infinitely deeper technical parameters that achieves client perfection (at least in their eyes). The Holland and Holland is, again in my view, a best gun and that is in a separate category altogether. |
