Re: Blaser Rifle--R8

Quote:

I don't have any experience with the R8 but I did have an LRS2 (R93 based) in 308 a while back. It was a very accurate rifle and I liked it a lot. When I was looking for a rifle to take to Africa I almost bought an R93 in 375 but went with an HS Precsion instead, I just didn't want to pay the Blaser price. They do make good stuff though, I recently bought an F3 to shoot clays with.

Thanks everyone for your help...

I copied this as the HS caught my eye...I purchased a HS back in 2001 in a 300 Ultra-mag..have traveled the planet with that rifle..have a 4-14 VX-3 on it..have shot lots and lots of rounds with that rifle..as well as over 50 head of plains game in Africa, lots of elk here in Montana, antelope, mule and whitetail, etc..it is by far the MOST accurate rifle I have ever owned...and while I have more expesive scopes...the Leupold on there currently has never had any issues of any kind..

I have looked at Blaser's before..just think they are a unique and handy little rifle..however when I go back to Africa..if I took just one gun I would probably take either one of my .416's or a .375 can call it good...if plains game was involved, more apt to take the .375H&H..for a bit more versatility...have a friend who is getting a Blaser though..will be fun to check out and shoot.
