I had a look at one in the last few weeks. Not personal experience though. Hopefully actual owners will comment. Their are claims they are safer than the R93's. They are in-acctractive to my eye. I think they make a good travel rifle. Versatile with swappable barrels/mags/bolts etc. However a downside of one rifle, two calibres is you can only have one calibre setup at a time. Better two rifles, or one calibre which does the lot. Short and relatively light. I think the price of them (here at least) is over-priced. One reason I bought a more traditional modern bolt action, the Mauser M03. The price on your link looks better than the prices in Aust I have seen (over double that price). I do not like the concept of the magazine and trigger being the same unit one bit. Or that the trigger is so easily detachable, can be misplaced, lost, forgotten etc. And how will the trigger continue to function if continually pulled in and out? Just my thoughts on the R8. |
