Quote: Think there a several reasons for this..one, the ackley is becoming more and more available, caught on I guess, so more manufacturers are offering the Ackley in lightweight rifles... And using your comments, that the 7mm Rem SAUM offers at least what the ackley does...well if its really close there is no reason really to change...and some people,, myself included have never been fans of the fatty cases..I realize in theory they are suppose to offer certain advantages but for myself I have never warmed up to them..If I was to get one it would probably be in the 270 WSM..thing that particular one offers the most advantages over the standard 270 Winchester.. Then there is the "cool" factor...its a caliber that, when in most hunting camps, your likely the only one with it..its unique and interesting... I have 4 lightweight rifles for anything from coyotes to Elk/moose/bear guns..all shoot very very well and a joy to carry, but none are in the short mag calibers... All of this might be totally inaccurate, but are some of my personal reasons.. Ripp |
