Thanks for the input. Clearly it seems I'm in the minority and he should get his own rifle as long as he contributes.
I had that part down fine. I just hated to waste the money on a cheaper gun just to say "it's mine".

I guess in life we have to let our children make their own decisions, good, bad or indifferent.
