I noticed that the empty cases were hitting the scope on ejection

This feature is an unpleasant but characteristic part of SAKO 85. It originates from the position of ejectors claw. But the newer model SAKO A7 do not have this problem.

Does the 375 length action do this as well? If this is the case there is NO WAY I would use a Sako 85 for DG. I found that if I tilted my rifle slightly to the left the case would sometimes bounce back into the receiver - and of course if not noticed an immediate jam would occur.

To me Sako's error is that they have tried to turn the 75 action into a CRF action and that it is not - so now they have neither a good CRF action or a good push feed action.

The Sako A7 hasa plunger type ejector in the 9 o'clock position so I am not surprised it does not suffer the same fate.

I wish Sako would produce good actions like they used to - machining & quality of work is so good - its a shame the rifle is spoilt by a badly designed action.
