G'Day Fella's, Gryphon, I have only applied the baked on Cerakote to two rifles (barreled action, t/guard, scope bases and rings, etc etc etc). I'm left with the impression that the baked on version, may end up being a bit thinner in coating thickness, once it has dried but the 5 day air cured, is definitively the most robust of the two. Given that, I have chipped a few small bits of Cerakote (oven cured), from the bolt handle of one of these rifles as well! I was a bit surprised also but a quick re-application, next time I'm doing a job should fix that! That won't be of much help to you though, eh Gryph! As to my suppressors, it copes an absolute flogging heat wise and also constantly expanding and contracting (from heat and individual shots & bursts), and comes up smiling! The hotter you get the Air Cured Cerakote (within its physical parameters), the tougher it actually becomes! Not sure if I can be of much more help to you, other than to say contact the person that applied it to your firearm, and see what they say! ? Doh! Homer |
