At the risk of incurring the wrath of the ethical, I found that when sniping larger game up to feral goats in weight, I took a lot more time with the .17 to place my head shots into the butt of the ear. I always seemed to wait for the perfect presentation and control my shot better.

Learning to wait and even pass up a shot, was a valuable lesson when hunting 'expensive' larger game later in life.

The .17's certainly are addictive. The best thing is that you can watch the whole shot due to lack of recoil.
