I have notice a problem with the action of my BAR after a recent firing session. I inherited a late 70's model about 10 years agothat has been shot very little. I was shooting the other day with standard hornady 180 gr. factory loads at 2700fps (not light magnum loads). I have noticed that the case head on each ejected case is bent in a way I have never seen on any of the other cases I've recovered. Its like you sat the case upright on a table and then leaned the case over and bent the head. Also, and what really worries me, you can feel sort of a "grinding" when first pulling back the action when the locking lugs are twisting free. Any help would be appreciated. Is it time to get in touch w/ browning? I obviously don't want to shoot it until my fears are put to rest. There are no reliable gunsmiths in my area that I know of. Thanks, John Sigmond |
