Thanks gents. I figured a 2-inch shorter barrel wouldn't make much difference, but it's nice to get confirmation from those of you with experience. And I only have one situation in mind where a shot of 200 yards or more may be necessary- if I ever draw a Utah Henry Mountains bison tag- so I'm probably guilty of over-thinking this to begin with.
At some point I want to try out the various Woodleighs, including the heavy 320-grain RNSP, as well as the 300-grain Swift A-frame. I've got 10 boxes of 286-grain Barnes (the old X bullets, bought cheap so a store could make room for TSX's) that I'll try too; gunmaker says I need to run 100 rounds of standard lead/copper bullets through the barrel before shooting any monometals so I've also got 5 boxes of Prvi factory loads that I'll burn up first.
