The 338-06 is just a modern version of the 318WR - but agreed, it has been overlooked, just like the 318WR which suffered from a really odd sized bullet (.330).

I wonder with 240gn bullets readily available for the 30.06 whether that will help or hinder the 338-06.

Either way, any one i have ever seen write about the 338-06 loves it.
