A couple years ago, I inherited a Winchester custom project and think it is time to get back on it. It is a tribute to my great uncle which my brother started and upon his untimely death became mine to complete. It is a pre 64 model 70 in .280 Rem mag. and the intention all along is for it to be designed as a scoped mountain rifle. I plan on following this through. It was engraved by Ralph Bone - in fact it is most likely the last gun he did. The scope mounts are Talley and I'm pretty sure he did the bottom metal as well. My thought is to have Chuck Grace finish it in a classic American style - I am sure he would do a great job - but thought I would throw it out there and see if any of the good folks here have any other suggestions. |
