Re: Savage Long Range Hunter 6.5/284

G'Day Fella's,

Ripp the 6.5-284 is another compact Power House cartridge.
A number of what I can "Long Rangers" (Bench Rest shooters that shoot 500 meter and 1000 yard BR matches), use this cartridge in both Savage Model 12 (?) and custom built rifles. The only shortcoming of this cartridge is, that these Long Ranges are only getting 700 odd shots out of a barrel before the accuracy starts to drop off. But at the prices you mentioned, that really isn't to much of a problem.
The other bonus with the Savage Barrel Attachment Concept is, that you get a couple of spare barrels (from www.sharpshootersupply.com) and a Barrel Nut Spanner and just screw another one in!

I have a sleeved Rem 700 switch barrel rifle in .22-250 AI and I am interested in joining these Long Rangers to do a bit of 500M and 1K BR work.
To do this, I will need another barrel for this rifle and the 6.5-284 was one of my first thoughts?
I've been talking to some of the regular top Long Rangers and the 6mm BR was also mentioned! So.....................???

Ripp, at that price, you can't go wrong!
And I'm of the opinion that Savage at present, are making the Best Firearms that they have ever made!!!

Don't know if that was of much help to you?

Also, I've always wanted a 6.5-06 Hunting Rifle!?!
The 6.5mm, really is a very underrated bullet diameter!!!

HooRoo
