Re: .257 Weatherby Magnum Details.

G'Day Fella's,

Jeff and Jerry, Thank You for the web sites, I will go and have a gander at them, in a tick.
Ripp, Thank You also for your personal experience and load data for this cartridge. Bloody Nice Mule Deer Ripp, well done!!!

I've been shooting my poor old .25-06 (Rem 700 BDL) for the last 30 years and a good mate of mine (Toofa) keeps pestering me about wanting to buy it off me (Years ago now, I once watched Toofa shoot a Fallow Deer from the door of his Hut with this 25-06. The Deer only went 2 feet after the shot and that was Down! He hasn't stopped pestering since!). Whilst this rifle and I have had a fair bit of fun over the years, it will still put 5 x 100 gr B/Tips and Barnes X (@ 3350 fps) into 1/2" to 5/8" at 100 yds. But I may weaken, some time soon?
I have been wanting to get one of the new Rem 700 CDL stainless/wood in 257 Weatherby but I missed out on one earlier this year, that was quite a bit cheaper than usual. So I have decided to build one up on a recently made Browning 1895 falling block action (and if a 700 CDL comes along at the right price, I'll have it to!). I also Had an As New (and heavy), Weatherby Mk V in 257 but sold it 8 months ago (though I kept the Redding Die set), as I prefer my bolt rifles to be Remington's.

Ripp, if you don't mind me asking, what are the Barrel Lengths on your .257's?

Thanks for all your advice on powder choice etc for use with this cartridge as it isn't a very common caliber in Australia, God only knows why???

Jeff and Jerry, I just checked out the two websites that you recommended, Thank You they are fantastic!
