A friend of mine needs to install a scope and if possible change the safety catch on his Winchester Mod. 54.

Could someone please tell me which base and ring set he would need to buy and if it is possible to get a Winchester Mod. 70 type side swing safety catch to replace the original Mod. 54 safety. If a side swing safety is avaialble, will it need extensive gunsmithing to fit and where can one buy one of these.

Lastly, would I be right to assume that a high scope mount would be required for the bolt handle to clear the scope's ocular bell.
