Personally I go for a 7mm Remington for deer and use a 223 or 243 for the varminting and pig hunting. I use a 150gr nosler red tip for deer, a 64gr JSP on a 223 for pigs and similar, for anything smaller (ie rabbits, foxes, cats etc) i go for a 55 grain balistic silver tip.

it's good if you've got the money, if you dont then overall i would go for the 270.
