Re: 9,3x57 loads in the mauser 96

I'm not going to give the cartridge mystical powers {it would be easy to careen off in that direction... }, but it is one of the best allround cartridges for use on North America.

Indeed, it truly comes into its own in a modern action as the 57mm case is highly efficient, gives performance equal to the original loads in 9.3x62 and begs to be chambered in a modern action and loaded with highpressure modern factory ammunition. This last bit ain't gonna happen of course.

Until then, we who handload and use the cartridge in strong actions like the 98's will just keep smiling!

I'd like to see a modern semi-auto made akso, maybe ala the old Russian Medved "Bear" in 9,3x54R. The 57 case begs for use in a light semi-, and regardless, it alread IS toted around in some of the best mountain rifle's ever made; superlight Model 46 Husqvarnas.

Great cartridge!
