I've shot a few deer with the 160 Hornady in the 6.5x55. Worked well. OK bullet. Maybe a bit frangible and not the deep penetrator its weight implies. Based on my media testing, I'd call it a fairly "soft" bullet. Maybe tops for the 6.5 JAP, 6.5 Carcano, 6.5x54 and 6.5x53R and reaching its velocity ceiling for deep penetration in a strong-action 6.5x55 Swede.

Not surprised to hear it worked well on a side shot on a whitetail in the .264. Should be a real killer of a bomb on such shots even from that fast one.

Bonanza, do you know the weight of that deer?
