That is odd. The new FN M70s are mostly out-sourced, but they are supposed to be making the barrels in-house. Even the actions are made by a nearby vendor in SC. The trigger is new BTW, and I personally like the old M70 trigger.

I thought so as well--doesn't make much sense --but plan to keep checking..
Agree with the trigger info..picked up a pre-64 in 300 H&H a few weeks back--checked the serial number--actually come off the line in 1954--trigger is truly awesome and amazingly simple to work on..
