Thanks fellows. Story goes like this... I have a Ruger 10/22 I've had for years that is pretty beat up now, tho it has earned every nick and scratch and dent. Some few years ago I got this ugly duckling. I had the Leupold on the 10/22, but wanted a bolt .22 to help training my littlest kids for my shooting test. Basically I wanted a rifle with the same action type as the rifle they'd hunt with. I looked at CZ's and really like them, and might pick up a CZ .22 at some point, but then this 1969 looked like another option. My son and I had used it on ground squirrels in original milsurp condition, but it was uglier than a stick in a mud fence and didn't have a scope or reasonable mounting system for such. Truth is, after the work done on it, it is about as good as a factory CZ .22 and the sum total expense not counting scope and mounts is $130, and that counting the bottle of Tung Oil and the Minwax stain for the stock! I wish I'd have bought 4 or 5 of these things when they were a dime a dozen... |
