Hi SH, I did think of contacting the sellers and asking the same thing. In the UK you need a firearms certificate to be in possession of a rifle, but I suppose if I just paid for them and they stayed with the dealer, then I would own them, but not be in possession and therefore not in breach of any law. There are two potential problems that I can see: a. The dealer may not wish to hold the rifles after they are sold. b. There is no guarantee that I would be granted a certificate. There is a big debate going in on the UK about gun crime and, as we all know, this usually leads to something being banned - even though legally owned rifles are not at issue. However, I think I will speak to the dealers to see what their thoughts are. I'll also look a bit closer at the firearms law here and also speak to the police in the UK about applying for a certificate and/or an export permit while I'm here. You never know, there's nothing to lose. Thanks for the encouragement. The only other problem is that if I do buy them, I won't be able to afford a hunting trip this year. Hmm... Does anyone else have any thought, opinions or advice? |
