Re: Husqvarna in 6.5x55 M96 or M98 or 1600?

Some of those tradeex 6.5's are really nice. Seems like hundreds of them. Just thought I'd rub that in a bit, Rod.
: If you want to beat 3,000fps with 120gr. bulelts, then pay the extra bucks and get a 98.
: If 2,900fps is OK with 120's and even 129's then an excellent condition 96 will do it. Mine does, but it's a brand new barreled action made in 1912. Now, mine's a military rifle - may have different heat treating than the Husky's I don't know. That being the case, perhaps you should stay with the 98.
; 6,5x55 standard ballistics will push 140's out at 2,650fps, 2,800fps with 120's, I'd expect and 2,500fps with 160's, which, by the way, is a really good Moose, Elk and Deer load, not to mention black bear.
; I load 160gr. Hornady's to 2,500fps in my 6.5x55, with low pressure using RE#22 and H450. Reloader #19 is used for the other loads, which allows improved ballistics at identical maximum normal pressures compared to the faster powders that are more commonly used in this round, ie: 4064, 4320, 4895, etc. The case capacity of the 6.5x55 works well with the slower powders noted.
; If you don't load, the Hornady Light Magnum ammo is loaded for the weaker actions, but give improved ballistics over other ammo makers providings.
