Re: Husqvarna in 6.5x55 M96 or M98 or 1600?

Hard to answer...

First just try to find one!!

PLEASE don't tell me Tradex has a pile of them. Grrr...

The 6.5x55 was designed for the 94/96/46 action. I'll leave the pressure technicalities to others, but staying safe still makes for very fine performance in the 6.5. I do not believe you will see a great increase in obtainable velocities in the 98 or other more modern, "improved" actions.

As for which model {stocking, action functioning, etc} is "best", everybody has their preferences which seem to run purely personal. Some like the old classic 94 action rifles, some the sleek, modernized 1600's, etc. An HVA 146 {98 action} 6.5x55 seems particularly tough to find, tho you might locate a 640 series rifle {post-War FN 98 action}.

Remember, the Swede rifles you see there at Tradex and we see at SARCO and Allan's are castaways and finding 6.5x55's in great shape or at all can be very tough.

Not many Swedes seem to like to part with their precious 6.5's, and I don't blame them one bit!
